I like something sweet in the evening, but don’t always want to choose between a dessert and a cocktail. To solve this tricky dilemma I have come up with a couple of dessert cocktails using flavours of Absolut vodka. They are a great alternative to offer guests after dinner, or perfect if you just fancy a treat.
Go! Man! Go!
- 40ml Absolut Mango
- 1tsp Passionfruit Curd
- 30ml Fresh Lime Juice
- 1/2 Passionfruit to Garnish
Add all ingredients except garnish to a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake until the shaker frosts. Strain into a small martini glass. Place 1/2 passionfruit on top.
This drink really packs a punch of flavour, the sweetness of the curd, the sharpness of the mango and lime, and the cut of vodka. It is a sipper, and makes a nice alternative to dessert in the summer.
This recipe was inspired by the passionfruit curd, which I bought at a local pop-up shop. I would highly recommend the products from Wooden Spoon Preserving Company, based in Kent, if you have access to them – I like to shop local when I can!
- 40ml Absolut Vanilia
- 25ml Coole Swan Liqueur
- 25ml Chocolate Syrup
- Shaved Chocolate to Garnish
Add all ingredients except garnish to a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake until the shaker frosts. Strain into a small martini glass. Sprinkle shaved chocolate on top – I used Green & Blacks 70%.
This is another dessert martini, creamy, rich, and delicious. It was inspired when I was making Nigella’s Quadruple Chocolate Loaf Cake – the syrup used is the one that tops the cake. I had an excess of syrup at the end and didn’t want to waste it!
To make the chocolate syrup (which can be made in advance and kept for a week or so), add 1 teaspoon cocoa powder, 125ml water and 100g caster sugar to a pan and boil until the syrup is thick and delicious.
There are a number of flavours of Absolut vodka – and many I have yet to try! If you have a favourite flavour for cocktails, do let me know!
Just remember to enjoy (responsibly) x
