Cocktails in the City – London

Last Sunday I spent a fantastic afternoon at Cocktails in the City, an outdoor festival of cocktails in beautiful Bedford Square Gardens. Somehow, in quite a small area, they had created an alternative world, far from the hustle and bustle of London. 25 of the best bars from the city were hosting, paired with quality spirit brands. The best bartenders in town were creating speciality cocktails that showcased bar and spirit to perfection. It was also a lovely sunny day, which helped to create a fantastic atmosphere. As well as the bar stands, there was a tent for cocktail talks and presentations, food stalls, and a host of garden games, such as croquet and boules, to entertain the crowds.

I was lucky enough to win two Sunday tickets for the event on their Facebook page. However, having now experienced the fun and tasty delights I would be more than happy to buy my own tickets next time. As well as entry, the ticket gets you your first cocktail, with additional cocktail tokens on sale at the event.

We toured almost every stand, and even though I only tried three full cocktails (we could only stay for a couple of hours) I found every stall fascinating – many had tasters of spirits and cocktails, as well as interesting information about the bar and drinks featured.

I will showcase the fabulous drinks I sampled soon (rum features heavily), but in the meantime here are some pictures to give you an idea of the atmosphere:

As well as London, Cocktails in the City has also taken place in Leeds and Manchester this year, but there is one event left, so if anyone is near Edinburgh in October, I would highly recommend you get hold of some tickets now!

I cannot overstate the passion and enthusiasm of everyone involved in the festivities, and would recommend you take note now and put the event in your diary for next year!

Whatever you do this weekend, enjoy (responsibly) x
