Sometimes it’s nice for someone else to make the drinks…

B@1 drinks

Now as a rule I like to be the one making the drinks, but sometimes you just want to go out and have them made for you! In that situation, given the choice, I will head to a Be At One cocktail bar.

In London in the 1990s, three bartenders got sick of not being able to find a bar they wanted to go to, so they decided to open their own! In 1998, Be At One in Battersea Rise opened and since then the bar chain has popped up in a number of locations. Until recently they were all across London, but in the last year or so they have spread to Brighton, Milton Keynes, Bristol and beyond!

I love these bars as they are very relaxed, have friendly and knowledgeable bar staff, play great music and, most importantly, make great cocktails! They also have a pretty awesome Happy Hour and know their way around social media, so you can get great deals and offers if you follow them on Twitter and Facebook.

B@1 locations Now I’ve only been to about 6 of the locations, so I can’t speak for them all, but I know all the staff go through a rigorous training programme before they’re let loose on your drink order! My favourite bars are Farringdon (small, friendly, very close to my work!), Shoreditch (big, room for dancing) and Islington (nice layout, good location), and I would recommend them all highly!

The Drinks

Know what you like? Great – they can make almost anything. Don’t know what you like? Have a chat with the staff and they’ll help find your perfect drink. My favourite? Depends on my mood, but some of the best:

  • Porn Star Martini (learn how to make your own)
  • Brazilian Monk (a dessert cocktail – one for the end of the night)
  • Absolut Sherbet (in a range of flavours, look simple but taste amazing!)
  • Japanese Iced Tea (no longer on the menu, but ask and they’ll make it)

With free bookable areas it’s a great place to go with friends, as it suits most tastes and budgets. Here are a few of my friends enjoying themselves:

B@1 peopleSo, if you have one nearby, why not check it out? And if not, create your own experience at home with some of my recipes, or visit their website for more ideas.

Warning – tasty drinks and a 2 for 1 Happy Hour can lead to a sore head. I speak from experience on a number occasions…Take it easy and drink plenty of water!

Enjoy (responsibly) x

P.S. No-one asked me to write this and I only say nice things if I mean them!
