Cocktails…Chocolate…And Cupcakes!

Spring is in the air! And with Easter just around the corner, it seems like the perfect time to start thinking about chocolate…

Lovely LizBu over at BuBakes has, as usual, been working on some beautiful cupcakes for Easter and I have been making some cocktails to accompany them to enjoy over the long weekend.

You can check out some of her fabulous creations or have a look at some we made earlier, in honour of St. Patrick’s day.

Today, we have the indulgent and creamy Easter Egg Martini, with chocolate nest mini egg cupcakes:

Easter Egg MartiniEaster Egg Martini (makes 2)

  • 100ml Stoli Salted Caramel Vodka
  • 50ml Frangelico Hazelnut Liqueur
  • Homemade Chocolate Liquor (see below)

Chocolate Liquor

To make this, dissolve 100ml of good dark chocolate (I use Green & Black’s) with150ml of water in a small pan. Once dissolved, allow to cool, but don’t put in the fridge or it may become gritty.

Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice, shake well and strain into a champagne saucer (or martini glass). Decorate with chocolate shavings, chocolate curls, Cadbury’s Mini Eggs, small bunnies, or whatever Easter decorations you have to hand!

As you can tell from the ingredients, this is a very thick, creamy and chocolatey drink. Think of it as an Easter egg for grown-ups! The Stoli and Frangelico both smell and taste delicious, and are fabulous additions to any cocktail collection!

If you do try these at home, I must admit to you that despite my first thought, mini eggs don’t actually float in this drink, so to achieve what you see in the picture, you will need to make an unseen foundation of mini eggs below the surface to get the one to sit on top. You can either think of this as cheating, or you can just realise that this way you get extra mini eggs!!

Next time, we’ll move on to a zingy and refreshing cocktail served with adorable baby chick cupcakes! Follow the blog so you don’t miss it!

Have a lovely weekend, and, as always, enjoy (responsibly) x
